EMC’s Leading Networked Storage Platforms and Software Sweep SQL Server Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards

HOPKINTON, Mass. and LOVELAND, Colo.-Wednesday, September 28, 2005

Penton Media’s SQL Server Magazine announced today that several of EMC Corporation’s leading networked storage and software products were selected as winners of SQL Server Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards in four categories.

In the Best Storage Products category, the EMC® CLARiiON® family won awards for Best Fault-Tolerant Storage Solution and Best Direct-Attached Storage Hardware. The EMC Centera™ content addressed storage (CAS) platform won the award for Best Database Backup/Recovery Hardware. Also, the Dell / EMC-branded CLARiiON was awarded Best Storage Area Network Solution and the Dell / EMC information protection and recovery software, Replication Manager, SnapView, SAN Copy and VisualSAN® won Best Replication Solution.

“EMC is honored to be selected by SQL Server Magazine readers as their overwhelming choice for storage hardware and software,” said BJ Jenkins, EMC Vice President of Global Marketing. “Our commitment to delivering industry leading, innovative products and solutions to help address our customers’ information lifecycle management needs is reflected by EMC products sweeping these prestigious awards.”

Readers were asked to vote on their product preferences in eight broad technology categories: business intelligence products, development tools, disaster prevention/recovery, hardware, security, storage, training and certification, and SQL Server management.

“Recognition from customers in the industry is an honor and is the ultimate ‘seal of approval’ for the products that won,” said Michele Crockett, Associate Publisher, SQL Server Magazine. “The SQL Server Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards were started as a way for readers to choose and recommend the best technology products in the industry. The awards program gives readers the opportunity to voice their opinions and for leading technology companies to receive the recognition they deserve.”
