PAT-MAN Enables ADI to Implement Parts Average Testing (PAT) Methodology for DPM Reduction at 4 Production Facilities Worldwide
——————————————————————————–
Waltham, MA(1/25/2006) – Galaxy Semiconductor Solutions, a leading provider of desktop test data analysis and IC quality improvement software, today announced that Analog Devices (ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, has adopted Galaxy’s PAT-MAN offering for a Defect Per Million (DPM) reduction program within its manufacturing operation and firstly aimed at its automotive IC production process. Under the terms of the licensing agreement, ADI will deploy PAT-MAN at 4 of its manufacturing sites worldwide to implement a DPM reduction technique known as Parts Average Testing (PAT).
ADI’s drive to continuously improve its world class manufacturing systems and meet automotive customer expectations for zero defects has already led to TS-16949 & QS9000 certifications and demonstrated 1FIT (Failure In Time) reliability among automotive safety critical components like the company’s highly regarded iMEMS® airbag sensors. As an advanced risk mitigation tool, PAT-MAN will assist ADI in advancing its world class manufacturing facilities while continuously improving the quality and reliability of its processes and products.
With an increasing focus on DPM reduction within the automotive market, ADI has taken a leadership role in implementing PAT early to better serve this strategic market segment.
“PAT-Man’s completeness, robustness, and ease of use increases confidence in meeting commitments to our customers in a timely and satisfactory manner,” said Liam McCaffrey of ADI’s Worldwide Manufacturing Purchasing group.
“We are delighted to have been selected by ADI, a recognized semiconductor industry leader, as their preferred solution for Parts Average Testing (PAT) implementations”, said Bertrand Renaud, COO of Galaxy Semiconductor. “We believe that PAT is becoming an increasingly important factor for Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDMs) like ADI to integrate in their manufacturing operations so as to continually meet or exceed their customers’ quality expectations.”
About PAT-MAN (new)
Galaxy’s PAT-MAN™ is a comprehensive software solution for Parts Average Testing (PAT) and related DPM reduction techniques, which manages the entire PAT process from initial wafer lot characterization to final-test yield monitoring. PAT-MAN employs a closed-loop approach to PAT, which helps improve device quality while minimizing unnecessary yield loss. PAT-MAN’s auto-adaptive rules engine automatically recognizes non-standard distributions and optimizes the outlier removal process for each lot. PAT-MAN also offers a unique, easy-to-use environment for fast setup and simulation of outlier rules, and an automated monitoring system for managing PAT-related yield in production.
