Electricity generation data in real time on the Internet
New price information for residential customers
RWE is launching a new online information service today as part of its drive for greater transparency. The Group will post real-time data on the Internet about the current status of electricity generation – broken down by individual power plant and also by the type of energy source. At the same time, the website “www.rwetransparent.com” offers information on electricity prices for residential customers.
“RWE is the energy provider in Germany publishing the most important data about the situation in its power plants and electricity grids – voluntarily and free of charge,“ Dr. Jürgen Grossmann, CEO of RWE AG, said on the occasion of the re-launch of the website that was originally released in the summer of 2007. “We are not just talking about transparency – we are creating it.” The information is helpful to customers and market professionals alike who want to keep up with the latest market developments.
Residential customers will find easily understandable and clearly presented information via the new menu item “Electricity price components” (“Bestandteile des Strompreises”). The latest grid input data from the various power plants is highly relevant to all market players, including electricity generators and utilities, grid operators and traders. The current power input figures for each individual RWE Power station producing more than 100 MW will be available online in real time. Combined with data about unplanned power plant outages, scheduled maintenance measures and the daily generation capacity of the various energy sources, the figures will provide a complete overview of the situation in all RWE power plants. This information is one of many different factors affecting pricing on the electricity exchange and the international wholesale market.
