Luxembourg, 29 mai 2008 – ArcelorMittal fait don de 100 000 euro à l’ONG «Save The Children » afin de venir en aide aux victimes du désastre survenu au Myanmar.
Cette organisation non gouvernementale a été reconnue par les Nations Unies comme l’agence ayant réagi le plus efficacement face à cet état d’urgence. Elle est déjà parvenue à venir en aide à plus de 160 000 personnes. Selon les Nations Unies, seules 500 000 des 2,4 millions de personnes vivant dans les régions les plus touchées ont bénéficié d’une aide quelconque. Près de la moitié des rescapés sont des enfants, soit quelque 900 000 d’entre eux qui ont désespérément besoin d’aide.
Le don fait au profit de l’ONG «Save The Children» provient de la Fondation ArcelorMittal.
M. Lakshmi Mittal, Chairman et CEO d’ArcelorMittal, a déclaré: « Au nom d’ArcelorMittal, je voudrais exprimer ma plus profonde compassion à l’ensemble des personnes touchées par cette tragédie.
