UK organisations urged to become better buyers before credit crunch bites

Supply chain transformation key to survival in a tightening economy says BravoSolution

London – 9 June 2008 – BravoSolution (www.bravosolution.co.uk), the international leader in Supply Management software and services, today advises UK organisations to secure their sourcing and procurement processes to survive the credit crunch in light of research showing some businesses spend as much as 90 per cent of IT budgets on third-party suppliers but fail to get good value for money.[1]

Research by the analyst organisation Gartner Group shows that IT procurement departments are too obsessed with simply cutting costs rather than adding commercial value to the IT department. BravoSolution suggests firms make IT procurement a more strategic function by arming themselves with tools that manage the day-to-day processes so they can spend more time adding value to the business, developing supplier relationships and reducing reliance on proactive e-procurement to make savings.

“Price pressures in the UK are running at their highest level for a decade, while the need to achieve demonstrable cost savings is more pressing than ever,” says Nader Sabbaghian, Managing Director of BravoSolution UK. “With high inflation, volatile exchange rates and UK suppliers planning on tightening their credit terms as the economic downturn continues, companies are increasingly leaving themselves exposed with inefficient systems and poor supply chain networks, which they are often completely unaware of.”

”Suppliers are scrutinising those companies who are asking them for credit and with business insolvencies increasing at an steady rate, sound management of relationships could mean the difference between success and failure.”

BravoSolution figures:
