Helps World’s Largest Office Product Company Enhance Customer Shopping Experience and Achieve Cost Savings Through Streamlined Labor Management

Oracle today announced that Staples has upgraded to PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management 9.0.
The office products company is relying on PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management 9.0 to roll out a long-term strategy to better deploy, monitor and manage talent.
Staples completed the upgrade to PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management 9.0 in 10 months. As a result, next generation technology and robust functionality will enable Staples to more strategically manage talent, from staffing to individual performance, according to business objectives.
The company is also running an Oracle(R) Database and will also deploy PeopleSoft Enterprise Time and Labor in order to reduce gross payroll costs through automated time capture and pay rate calculations. The company also has plans to deploy PeopleSoft Enterprise ePerformance later this year.
Automated, Flexible Workforce Optimization
Staples’ strategy required a technology solution with rich reporting functionality that would help ensure workforce schedules are compliant with government regulations and account for customer service demands. Staples selected Oracle Applications as the best fit for its business after a comprehensive review that included competitive offerings.
Staples is monitoring key performance indicators in order to increase productivity and control labor costs.
Staples also plans to identify, plan, observe, improve and reward performance with PeopleSoft Enterprise ePerformance, a Web-deployed solution that simplifies the appraisal aspect of the performance management process, from planning goals and coaching to assessing performance and rewards.
PeopleSoft Enterprise Early Success Program
Staples was selected through a controlled application process to complete the upgrade using PeopleSoft Enterprise Early Success Program (ESP). The PeopleSoft Enterprise ESP offers customers like Staples unique resources to accelerate the installation, upgrade and go-live on Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise applications.
Staples received access to a dedicated Customer Support Manager and focused attention from Oracle’s product management and development teams to regularly review upgrade status and drive issue resolution.
