Company Selects Oracle® Manufacturing Operating Center to Benefit From a Unified Plant Data Repository
Redwood Shores, CA – October 8, 2008
News Facts
G James Group of Companies (G James), a privately owned Brisbane-based company and leading housing and construction industry supplier in Australia, has selected the Oracle® E-Business Suite to replace an ageing system that could no longer support its business and growth plans.
A significant company in the building business, G James was looking for a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and by selecting and implementing Oracle Applications, G James will be able to efficiently and effectively streamline its business processes. This will enable G James to focus on business growth for Australia and Malaysia and support key business drivers within the company.
G James also purchased Oracle Manufacturing Operating Center in order to create a unified plant data repository to connect all its disparate plant systems and applications.
Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center will be deployed in parallel with the Oracle E-Business Suite, which is scheduled to be rolled out over the next three to five years.
Oracle Provides Integrated and Scalable Solution
The Oracle E-Business Suite will provide G James with an integrated and scalable solution with room to grow into the future. The key benefits anticipated by the company include:
An adaptable global business platform;
A customer focused applications strategy;
Reduced costs by streamlining operations and maximizing resources;
Competitive advantage as large housing companies are looking to expand into profitable niche markets; and
Reduced complexity as the demand increases for customization, energy efficiency, convenience and product innovation.
As part of the Oracle E-Business Suite, G James also plans to adopt the following applications: financial management, human resource management, supply chain planning, procurement, configuration, demand planning, logistics and ultimately transportation management.
In addition, Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center will help G James overcome the challenge of achieving a unified, comprehensive view of production performance because of its use of a variety of industry-specific systems on the plant floor. The key anticipated benefits include:
Real-time performance management instead of periodic reporting;
Consistent application of performance metrics across the enterprise; and
The ability to plan and schedule to realistic equipment capacity and adjust operations in real-time.

“As the business began to grow it became clear that our old legacy system could no longer support the rapid growth, said G James’ Director and Project Sponsor Bruce Moy. “The capabilities developed by Oracle are world class. The whole leadership team at G James supports the implementation and realizes this investment will take the company into the future and enable us to grow here in Australia as well as compete globally in the future.”
“Oracle offered a complete end to end solution that could be rapidly implemented and easily maintained. The decision to work with Oracle was largely influenced by the offerings, innovation and flexibility to adapt to our business culture. We look forward to the significant business advantages it will provide.”
“Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center is an exciting new product that G James will be able to implement in parallel with the Oracle E-Business Suite,” said Jon Chorley, Oracle Vice President Product Strategy. ”By delivering the data model, dashboards and integrations out of the box, as well as flexibility in the mode and sequence of deployment, G. James should realize a rapid return on their investment.”
