University of Virginia Medical Center Looks to Improve Ability to Effectively Recruit, Retain and Manage a Dynamic, Care-Focused Workforce with Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise and AtStaff Applications

News Facts
The University of Virginia (UVA) Medical Center – recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s 2008 “America’s Best Hospitals” ranking – is using Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management applications and implementing ClairVia staff and demand management solutions from AtStaff, Inc., a member of the Oracle® PartnerNetwork, to effectively recruit, retain and manage its workforce.
ClairVia and PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management applications enable constant communication, interaction and collaboration between the hospital’s employees, department managers and the human resources department to more effectively match resources with dynamic staffing requirements.
Employees can submit schedule requests, sign up for “shift opportunities” (available open shifts), exchange shifts with colleagues and view their current and future schedules 24/7 using a standard Web browser.
To deliver safe, high-quality staffing care, UVA Medical Center, which recently received the acclaimed Magnet designation for nursing excellence held by only three percent of United States hospitals, plans to use ClairVia and PeopleSoft Enterprise applications to constantly measure and monitor each patient’s clinical needs for staffing care and integrate this information with budget requirements.
UVA Medical Center is currently using version 9.0 including PeopleSoft Human Resources, Payroll for North America, Benefits Administration, ePay, eBenefits, eProfile Manager, and Time and Labor. They are also expected to implement Talent Acquisition Manager and Candidate Gateway.
ClairVia systems provide performance-oriented data interoperability with PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management applications, extending UVA Medical Center’s visibility into immediate staffing requirements, as well as recent trends.
Real-time manager dashboards in ClairVia enable managers to go beyond retrospective productivity reporting and manage productivity proactively, providing decision-makers the time and staffing options to improve quality and cost control. The dashboards enable detailed productivity measurements and thorough reports that cover all of UVA Medical Center’s staffing areas, such as patient care units, outpatient services and ancillary departments.
