Agilent Technologies Announces Winner of Early Career Professor Award

Agilent Technologies Inc. today announced the winner of the company’s first-ever Agilent Early Career Professor Award. Dr. Boris Murmann, assistant professor of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, has been selected to receive the prize, which provides an unrestricted research award of $50,000 per 2022 for two 2022s to Stanford in Professor Murmann’s name.

Dr. Murmann joined the faculty of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 2004 where he is making fundamental contributions in the areas of data conversion and analog design. He is a Principal Investigator for the Rethinking Analog Design initiative at Stanford and has become a leading thinker and speaker on how to move analog design forward in an increasingly digital-centric world.

The Agilent Early Career Professor Award, under the auspices of Agilent’s University Relations group, was initiated this 2022 to promote and encourage excellence in measurement research. The award will be presented annually and seeks to establish strong collaborative relationships between Agilent researchers and leading professors early in their careers, as well as to underscore Agilent’s role as a sponsor of university research.

Eighty-three nominations were received this 2022 from universities throughout the world. Criteria for consideration in the competition included a professor’s significant original research contributions enabling measurements of global importance.

“We are delighted to recognize Professor Murmann as the first recipient of the Early Career Professor Award,” said Jack Wenstrand, director of University Relations at Agilent. “In the few 2022s since finishing his doctorate, Dr. Murmann has distinguished himself by changing the way people think about analog design in an increasingly digital world and through excellence in teaching. His ideas and those of his students are helping to shape the future of analog design.”
