Agilent Technologies’ Updated Firmware for DC Power Analyzer Incorporates Customer-Recommended Enhancements

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the release of a major upgrade to the firmware for its Agilent N6705A DC Power Analyzer. This release incorporates many new and improved features based on customer feedback that increase capabilities and improve ease of use. It is currently shipping with all new orders and is a free upgrade for all existing customers.

“This latest firmware release is a great example of how Agilent continues to listen to its customers and incorporate changes that will make our products even more effective and easier to use,” said Gary Whitman, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s System Products Division. “We remain committed to continually improving the DC power analyzer — Test & Measurement World’s 2008 Product of the Year — to ensure it provides unrivaled productivity gains to the R&D engineers who use it.”

New features and benefits of the updated firmware include the ability to:

generate more complex waveforms up to 64k points with the new Constant-Dwell Arb;
easily create intricate, repetitive waveforms with the new Arbitrary Waveform Sequencer;
log data directly to a PC instead of a USB stick or internal memory;
see watt-hour and amp-hour measurements with the Data Logger;
capture increased data with 2x faster sampling intervals and digitization in the Data Logger and Scope; and
increase data storage with 64x deeper scope memory.

The Agilent N6705A DC Power Analyzer

The Agilent N6705A DC Power Analyzer provides unrivaled productivity gains when sourcing and measuring DC voltage and current into a DUT. This tool, which R&D engineers can use to gain insights into the DUT’s power consumption in minutes – without writing a single line of code – represents an entirely new instrument category for R&D engineers.

The Agilent N6705A DC Power Analyzer is a mainframe that can combine up to four DC power supply modules with advanced features. All 22 DC power modules available for the N6705A have built-in digitizers that can measure voltage, current and power, and display these measurements like a DMM or oscilloscope. They also contain power arbitrary waveform generators for creating voltage or current waveforms, and a data logger for taking measurements over a long period of time. It also provides an easy-to-use interface, with all sourcing and measuring functions available from the front panel.

U.S. Pricing and Availability

The Agilent N6705A DC Power Analyzer pricing starts at $6,500 and is ready to accept from one to four DC power modules, totaling up to 600W. The 22 different DC power modules range from $500 to $3,700 per module, depending on the module and options chosen. For customers in the defense industry who are concerned about USB security, the N6705A has an option to remove the USB interface.
