Orange Uganda selects Alcatel-Lucent to build operate and manage its mobile network

Agreement provides operational savings, efficiencies and quality of service

Paris, October 8, 2009 — Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) announced today that Orange Uganda Ltd has selected Alcatel-Lucent to dramatically reduce their global network maintenance costs and improve network operating efficiencies. Alcatel-Lucent will build, operate and manage the Orange Uganda mobile network, by providing technical support, repair, field maintenance and program management services. This full Managed Services contract is the first ever in Uganda as well as in East Africa.
