Paris, March 3, 2010 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) and Kenya Data Networks (KDN), the leading data communications carrier in Kenya and one of the largest in Africa, have expanded their existing relationship by offering KDN’s small- and medium-sized enterprise customers flexible, secure Internet services.
“Our objective is to deliver a wide range of beneficial, easy-to-use Internet services to our business customers,” said Kai Wulff, CEO of KDN and Group Executive of Altech East and Central Africa. “Alcatel-Lucent is providing us with a cost-effective corporate solution that will enable us to offer our customers innovative services with the highest quality standards.”
The new offering in Kenya is provided via the Alcatel-Lucent Extended Communication Server (ECS), a solution that transforms the way small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) communicate by delivering fully integrated communication, collaboration and mobility solutions that are scalable, reliable and cost-effective.
The Extended Communication Server family delivers complete collaboration and unified communication via secured Web access solutions, tailored to the specific needs of SMEs. Through the mobile push feature within ECS, employees can quickly retrieve emails, calendar information, contacts and tasks on-the-fly and in real-time on their mobile devices, keeping in touch with their business anytime, anywhere and enhancing their productivity.
“Alcatel-Lucent has expanded its close relationship with KDN to include powerful data communications products that enable enterprise customers to transform their businesses, improving the level of availability and security associated with their communications systems,” said Amr El Leithy, head of Alcatel-Lucent’s activities in Africa and the Middle East. “This new contract further strengthens our long-standing cooperation with KDN and highlights their confidence in our comprehensive solutions and local support capabilities.”
