Paris, June 14, 2010 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Netia, Poland’s largest alternative telecommunications provider of Internet access and voice services, has selected Alcatel-Lucent’s Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) platform to support the deployment of one of the first European end-to-end session initiation protocol (SIP)-based voice architectures. As such, Netia has made another big step towards offering bundles of advanced communications services.
Service providers are increasingly transforming their legacy (voice) networks to IP – driven by the desire to reduce operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) expenses on the one hand and the need to introduce new, revenue-generating, IP-based services on the other hand. By opting for Alcatel-Lucent’s 7302 ISAM platform, part of the ISAM family of IP-access products, Netia has been able to avoid disruptions for end-users and achieve cost-effectiveness in voice and broadband Internet access services.
“Building an end-to-end IP environment allows for lowering the production cost of voice and brings flexibility – a key factor in enhancing our capabilities to promptly respond to market demands for next-generation voice and data services, such as Unified Communication,” says Krzysztof Baran, CTO at Netia.
“Alcatel-Lucent has been Netia’s long-term partner in various areas,” said Andrzej Dulka, Head of Alcatel-Lucent’s business in Poland. “Netia’s selection of our ISAM platform and comprehensive services strengthens this relationship and confirms Alcatel-Lucent’s leading position in fixed broadband access,” he added.
Alcatel-Lucent has delivered to Netia its 7302 ISAM platform with advanced voice capabilities, part of Alcatel-Lucent’s ISAM family of IP-access products. The ISAM family enables service providers to deploy any mix of fixed broadband access flavors (xDSL, VDSL2, GPON, P2P Fiber) – thus delivering to their customers the highest bandwidths, in the shortest timeframe and in the most cost-effective way. The ISAM family has already been selected by more than 240 customers around the world. As part of this project, Alcatel-Lucent also provides a comprehensive set of professional services – including project management, the ISAM platform’s integration with Netia’s VoIP Service Platform, and Level-2 and Level-3 maintenance.
