A trading app lets you trade from a mobile device anywhere — at home as well as on the move. It offers almost all the core features of a desktop trading platform, and even special features available only on mobile (for some trading apps). There are countless stock trading apps today, covering virtually every asset (Forex, indices, cryptocurrencies, commodities and other CFDs), but the criteria for choosing the best day trading app are not always the same as those for choosing a PC platform or a broker. In this guide, we help you choose the best day trading app and tell you everything you need to know about these Android and iOS mobile trading platforms.
Last updated: October 2, 2026
In short: the best trading app is the one that matches what you want to trade. For Forex, indices and commodity CFDs, the Vantage app (with MT4, MT5 and TradingView) is our top pick; for long-term investing in stocks, a broker app offering a PEA is a better fit. Before depositing any money, check the fees, test the app in demo mode and secure your account (two-factor authentication).

What Is a Trading App?
A trading app is a program developed for trading from a mobile device. The mobile trading app can therefore be used on a phone, a tablet or a phablet running Android or iOS.
A trading app most often stands out from a trading website or platform through its design, ergonomics and features. The stock market app on mobile seems easier to use than when it is installed on a PC.
Why Use a Day Trading App?
- Availability and mobility: All it takes is a mobile device and a good internet connection to start trading on a mobile app. When travelling, there is no need to carry a computer with you to place trades or monitor your positions. With a trading app on your mobile, every trading opportunity is within easy reach.
- Accessibility and ease of use: Getting started with a trading app is generally very easy. It is easy to use, even for a beginner trader. Its ergonomics are designed to suit every type of user. The Vantage App from Vantage FX, for example, is ergonomic and easy to use.
- Custom, instant alerts: Many trading apps provide you with alerts on major market news, which then help you manage your positions. Notifications are available instantly within the app.
- Real-time information: With a mobile app, the trader learns instantly of any event that may affect market prices. This lets them act straight away if necessary.
- Security: A trading app is built to guarantee its user maximum security. Some feature military-grade encryption, others two-factor authentication, etc. Access to a trading account is controlled by its owner’s login credentials.
- Education: Many trading apps come with educational resources. The trader can learn not only the vocabulary specific to trading, but also find out more about trading strategies (scalping, day trading, swing trading, etc.), read up on money management, etc. They can also find a demo account there to practise trading with virtual money.
What Are the Types of Trading App?
- Trading app for Android: This type of trading app can be downloaded from Google Play and works with phones and tablets running the Android operating system. It can also sometimes be downloaded directly from the broker’s website, as is the case with the Vantage App, which can be downloaded from the Vantage website.
- Trading app for iPhone: This type of app is developed for all smartphones running the iOS operating system (iPhone, iPod) and for Apple devices in general. To install a trading app for iPhone on your device, simply download it directly from the forex broker’s website or from the App Store.
- Trading app for iPad: If, rather than a smartphone, you have a tablet on which you want to trade, you can download your trading app for iPad from the App Store or from your broker’s trading website.
Which Assets or Instruments Can You Trade with a Trading App?
- Currencies / Forex
- CFDs
- Cryptocurrencies
- Futures
- ETFs
- Commodities
- Indices
- Stocks
- Bonds
- Options, etc.
What Are the Best Features to Look for in a Day Trading App?
- Margin trading: This feature allows the trader to borrow money from their broker to place a trade on the stock market. Their account balance is kept as a form of collateral for the loan, and with the borrowed sum, the trader can increase the size of their positions.
- Conditional orders: they let you define under what conditions you want to sell and buy, based on market price movements.
- Financial news: You need to be informed, ideally in real time, of every event that can affect price movements on the markets.
- Charting tools: They give you access to the various market trends over a given period. Using charting tools, it is possible to predict market prices over that same period. There are different types of charts, such as bar charts and candlestick charts.
- Risk management options/tools: To help you reduce your risk of loss, your trading app must let you set stop-loss levels (and any other type of stop) and take-profit levels for your orders and, if possible, offer negative balance protection and many other risk-hedging options.
- Signals and alerts: from their mobile device, the trader must be able to be notified of any market movement that could affect their positions or represent opportunities or threats for them.
Which Trading Tools Can You Use on a Trading App?
- Trading journal: This indispensable tool condenses all your trading performance over a period — at least as long as you fill it in properly. All your trading activity should be recorded there to help you improve.
- Trading platform: This is the basic tool you need as a trader. It is essential for this platform to be easy to pick up, to offer both core and optional features, to be regulated and secure, and to charge competitive fees.
- Economic calendar: It is useful for keeping up to speed with economic and financial news that can affect market volatility.
- Index/Forex calculator: This tool makes it easier to manage the risk of your positions. With this calculator, once you are positioned in the currency market, you can find out the real value in your order book. Based on the pip and the interest rate of the currency pair you have chosen, the calculator shows you your potential losses and gains.
- Profit simulator: With this tool you can determine your profitability level. It helps you forecast your gains and work out how long it will take to reach your goals. Thanks to this tool, you get a better sense of how the market works and which strategy to put in place to be consistently profitable.
- Screener: Based on parameters you have defined beforehand, this filtering tool selects only the financial instruments that match your criteria. It is useful for automating research and saves a considerable amount of time.
- Historical data analysis software: This is a tool for studying price histories that helps you anticipate how they will move. This market software helps you define your entry and exit points more effectively.
Which Payment Methods Do Trading Apps Offer?
- Bank transfer
- Credit/debit cards
- Online banking services
- E-wallets
- Cryptocurrencies
- Deriv peer-to-peer
Scams: How to Avoid a Fraudulent Trading App?
- Read other users’ reviews: Search the internet for reviews from other clients. If an app is a scam, you will inevitably be told so by clients who have used it.
- Check the regulation of the country: It is not enough for a trading app to be regulated. What you need to know is that this regulation varies from one country to another, and you are not always guaranteed to be protected. So take the trouble to check what protections each regulatory system offers you.
- Check the type of authorisation: The trading app you use may come from a broker authorised by a financial authority, or simply from a broker licensed to carry out this activity. In the first case, you benefit from protections that the second case does not necessarily guarantee.
- Avoid empty promises: You must be careful with any app that promises you a high return on investment. All too often, scammers use this idea of gains as bait.
- Know how to stay cautious: Even if your intuition tells you it is not a scam, give yourself some thinking time. This time can help you carry out the necessary checks on the identity of the company behind the mobile app. If necessary, ask for written documentation and take the time to read it thoroughly.
Trading App Fees: What Do Trading Apps Charge?
- Deposit fees: Few apps charge deposit fees these days. It is, however, a form of commission taken by the app on the money deposited into the trading account.
- Withdrawal fees: Withdrawing money from your trading account may incur fees, the amount of which varies from one app to another, and from one payment method to another.
- Conversion fees: These apply when you trade a financial asset in a currency other than your base currency. Currency conversion fees are necessary, for example, if you want to buy a stock in dollars while your base currency is the euro. The app takes a percentage of the total amount of your transaction.
- Commissions: These are the fees charged on a specific transaction. They can vary depending on the types of financial instruments.
- Custody fees: These are charged by the intermediary (broker) in charge of holding the financial assets.
- Spreads: The spread is the difference between the buying and the selling price of a financial asset. It varies from one trading app to another, depending on the financial products concerned.
- Swaps: Swap fees apply when the trader keeps a position open over two sessions. Overnight fees, as they are also called, are debited or credited at the close of the session in the form of interest.
- Inactivity fees: These are charged if the trader does not use their trading account for a certain period (12 months for some). These fees are not charged by all apps, and their amount varies from one app to another.
What Educational and Training Tools Do Trading Apps Offer?
- Guides: These are a set of courses for learning to trade. They can cover the basics of Forex trading, binary options trading, etc.
- Tutorials: You have at your disposal many videos created to help you learn to trade on your own.
- Webinars: They are designed to help traders improve their skills. Webinars are suitable for beginners and professionals alike. They are hosted by seasoned analysts. A live webinar session ends with a Q&A, giving everyone the chance to get precise answers to their difficulties.
- Immersion days: They are an opportunity for you to learn more about the broker, how its trading app works, order execution and your trading strategy. Immersion days can be combined with coaching sessions.
- Advisors: They provide you with advice and analysis for trading and for finding good investments.
- Online training: It can be paid or free, and aimed at beginners or experienced traders.
- FAQ: It provides answers to most of the questions traders ask.
What Are the Characteristics of a Day Trading App for Beginners?
- A simple, fast sign-up process: It is important to choose an app that asks you for very little information when you sign up. Your trading app should make the registration process as simple as possible.
- A clear presentation of the instruments to trade: Every financial product must be presented clearly and be directly accessible, without you having to hunt for it.
- A cryptocurrency offering: Compared with other financial products, cryptocurrencies offer a fairly high short-term return (and therefore carry an equally high risk). What’s more, because of their large trading volume, there will always be a buyer and a seller — not to mention the wide variety on offer.
- An app and customer support in your language: It is best to opt for an app designed in the language you know best. You should also make sure that, should problems arise, you can easily reach customer support.
- A low minimum deposit, easy deposits and withdrawals: As a beginner, you should opt for a mobile app that asks for a minimum deposit between €100 and €200. It should also make deposits and withdrawals easy and, above all, not charge fees for them. On the other hand, it should offer you a wide range of payment methods.
- Easy opening and closing of positions: For this purpose, the app must have a Buy/Sell button. It should also let you enter the amount you wish to invest as simply as possible, and give you the option of placing a stop-loss order and a limit order.
- A demo account: It is essential for the beginner trader to have a virtual account and to do virtual trading. A demo trading app lets them practise in real market conditions without risking their capital. It is also an opportunity to test the trading app’s features and their own strategies.
- A guaranteed stop: The guaranteed stop protects you from losing more than you would like. If you open a position with a guaranteed stop, you already know the maximum amount of your loss, even in the event of high volatility.
Who Can Use a Trading App?
Trading apps suit professionals and trading beginners alike. The trading apps available today are quite intuitive and easy to pick up. Some even come with tutorials on how to use them. You therefore do not need any trading knowledge to use a mobile app.
How to Contact the Customer Service of a Trading App?
- Live online chat: Available around the clock on some trading apps, it quickly puts you in touch with a customer service agent, or sometimes a chatbot.
- FAQ: This web page of your trading app provides answers to most of the questions you may have.
- Email: This is the channel most used by trading apps to be contacted. Replies by email are often quick.
- Phone: You can speak directly with an advisor and get a precise answer to your question.
- Contact form: It collects traders’ questions so they can be routed to the advisor best placed to answer them.
How to Trade Well on a Trading App: Tips
- Set up a trading plan and stick to it: It stops you from making hasty decisions that are financially dangerous for you. It also helps you set realistic goals. Once you have set up a trading plan, it is best to follow it.
- Apply money management rules: The rule is simple. Never risk more than 2% of your capital on a single trade. Also, avoid placing a fixed amount on all your positions. That amount should vary depending on your capital and on the market.
- Refrain from diversifying: If you are a beginner, wanting to trade several types of financial assets at the same time is a big mistake. It is better to stay focused on one strategy and, above all, to keep your investment universe as narrow as possible.
- Be careful with leverage: Leverage has the advantage that it can win you big, but it can also lose you just as much.
- Avoid emotions: Since it is hard to do without them entirely, it is better to know how to manage your emotions. Trading under stress is not a good idea.
- Trade with money you do not need right away: Trading is a risky activity. If you use money reserved for your immediate needs to trade, you will find it hard to manage your emotions.
- Use the screener to find opportunities: This trading tool can easily review more than 8,000 assets and thus give you the chance to find trading opportunities.
- Keep a trading journal: It is an indispensable tool for the trader. It helps you stay disciplined and avoid taking decisions driven by emotions.
How to Choose a Trading App: Tips
- Opt for a well-known app: On top of user reviews, take a look at the legal notices on the trading app’s website.
- Choose user-friendliness: Your trading app must be easy to pick up. You should be able to master it as quickly as possible.
- Look into its execution speed: You must be able to execute your transactions immediately with your trading app, because a delay of just a few seconds can lead you into a loss.
- Choose an app with charts and quotes: Your mobile trading app must put a wide range of trading tools at your disposal. Through them, charts and quotes, but also alerts.
- Compare service offerings: You must choose the app that makes you the best possible service offer (educational resources, live chat, customer support, news feed, etc.)
- Choose an app with quality customer support: Your trading app must provide you with customer service that is available and responsive. Ideally, this support should be reachable 24/7 by live chat (24/5 is also excellent). It should also be available by email and by phone.
- Compare brokerage fees: This comparison will let you choose the app that allows you to trade at the lowest cost.
- Make sure the features suit you: Some trading apps have features suited only to experienced traders. So if you are a novice, make sure you opt for an easy-to-use app.
- Expect real-time information from your app: You must be able to follow all current events, all the information in real time, with your trading app.
- Choose a secure and regulated app: Make sure your trading app (or its operator, the online broker) is regulated by a reputable and reliable body.
Which Trading App for Your Use? (2026 table)
Not all « trading apps » serve the same purpose. This table helps you identify the category you need before comparing brands.

Free Trading App: What Is Really Free
Downloading trading apps and opening an account are almost always free. However, no app lets you trade at no cost: the broker earns money through the spread, commissions, financing fees on leveraged positions or currency conversion fees (see the list of fees above).
Example: on a CFD app, if EUR/USD shows 1.1000 on the sell side and 1.1001 on the buy side, the spread is 1 pip. On a 0.10 lot position (€10,000 notional), this pip represents about $1 in cost from the moment the position is opened, whether it ends up in profit or in loss. Multiply this cost by your number of monthly trades to estimate the true price of a « free » app. Our page on free trading explains these mechanisms in detail.
Securing Your Trading App
- Download the app from the broker’s official website or via the link it points to on the App Store and Google Play: fake apps imitating well-known brands circulate on a regular basis.
- Enable two-factor authentication (SMS code or authenticator app) and biometric unlocking.
- Avoid public Wi-Fi for logging in or placing orders.
- Never share your login credentials, even with someone presenting themselves as an « advisor » from your broker, and refuse any remote takeover of your phone.
- Beware of guaranteed profit promises spread on social media or messaging apps. If in doubt about an unknown website or app, check the AMF blacklists and our article on the AMF blacklist.
Testing a Trading App in 5 Steps
- Open a demo account and check that the orders you need (stop loss, take profit, pending orders) are available on mobile.
- Place around ten practice trades at different times of the day to observe execution speed and how spreads move.
- Set up price alerts and check that they do arrive as notifications.
- Contact customer service from within the app to judge how responsive it is.
- Go live, start small and make a first test withdrawal to check withdrawal times and fees.

Taxation of Gains Made with a Trading App
Trading from a smartphone changes nothing about taxation. For an individual domiciled for tax purposes in France, capital gains on securities are subject by default to the flat-rate levy of 31.4% (12.8% income tax and 18.6% social security contributions), with the option of the progressive income tax scale (service-public.gouv.fr, page checked on April 15, 2026). If the app is that of a broker based outside France, you must declare this account every year (form no. 3916-3916-bis) and report your gains and losses yourself. For long-term investing in European stocks, a PEA allows, after 5 years, gains to be exempt from income tax (service-public.gouv.fr). More details in our guide to trading taxation.
